Jodi's Bio
Based in London, Jodi has travelled the world. (She even spent time doing some research in Antarctica.) Just a dissertation away from a Physics Ph.D, Jodi shifted her focus to music and began fusing genres to create unexpected and memorable flavors, much like her vegan cooking. She plays the upright bass, the violin, the flute, and just about anything else she's ever touched. She also makes the best cupcakes this side of the non-planet Pluto.
Mary's Bio
Mary is a spritely, optimistic gal who shows her dark side in her avant-garde compositions. She also shows all her other sides in every other genre; she's a pointy girl. She's worked with so many prestigious folks, my fingers cramp even as I consider typing them all, but I'll just mention a few: world-renowned composer Chinary Ung, celebrated film composer Ron Sadoff, jazz pianist/composer Anthony Davis, and French New Wave director Jean-Pierre Gorin. Her innovative writing style has earned her premiers with internationally acclaimed musicians and a warm place in my heart. Aside from working with highfalutin folks, Mary enjoys playing with her (ugly) puppy, Lucy, and wearing teal. She is based in LA, where teal is acceptable.
Hannis' Bio
Hannis is a pensive fellow, always listening. So you might wonder why he's currently living in LA. (Well, I don't know exactly, but it has something to do with low-riders.) He has been involved in many-a-band, for instance the widely touring acid jazz funk group LOBE; he is currently in the increasingly popular Kawehi. He's worked with some impressive talent such as celebrated jazz composers Maria Schneider and Ed Neumeister, new music composer Bruce Reiprich, trumpet great Bobby Shrew, and guitarist John Abercrombie. He has a massive compositional range which includes jazz, classical, experimental, awesome, and neat-o. He enjoys contact sports and amateur potato-carving contests.
Todd's Bio
Todd helps us get our ducks in order - he went with a column as a fresh change. He's our contact man, the thing that keeps us afloat, the clean energy alternative that powers our engines - the primarily hydrogen wind beneath our musical wings. He holds an MBA and a Master's in Electrical Engineering, as well as the record for world's slowest triathlete. We pilfer his business skills and occasionally offer him one of Jodi's cupcakes. Currently, you can find him whizzing around on his ferrari of a bicycle in New York City.
Genna's Bio
We started Hydrogen Music to help build on the idea that composers should write to have something to say, not because we want to be famous or be successful. (That's right, we'd rather eat garbage than say nothing with our music. Things are looking up with the Replate program.) Anyway, we want to inspire people, and we want to work with others who agree with this idea. I know that sounds a little open-ended, and we want it to be. A good message, to us, means a message that inspires, rather than manipulates. (A shout out to Simon Sinek for his brilliant observation. This man is a lightning cloud! - Lots of thunder, but he is really just condensation in the atmosphere.)
